Fourth of July Camping.

When I put camping on my 2013 goal list, I imagined I would pick a spot, plan for the perfect trip and make sure I added in lots of details so it would be well-planned. But, when Jon at the last minute suggested we go camping on the Fourth of July so we could spend time with his nephews, I threw my well-thought-out plan out the window and decided to "be more adventurous" (goal #10).

We headed to a local campground with the just the essentials-sleeping bags, grocery items for dinner, and camping chairs to sit around the fire with. I was so happy we could make it a point to be with Jon's family on the holiday. I let Jon take the lead on this trip and I have to say, he did good. He purchased a mini-cooler for the weekend and even found a single use charcoal grill for us to use for dinner. I was impressed!

Jon's sister let us use her tent since we do not own one. It had to be my favorite part of the whole experience as it provided a lot of laughter. We spent the rest of our time at the campground kayaking with Jon's nephews and sister and sitting around the campfire making s'mores. Below are a few snapshots of our trip together.

Ready. Set. Go.

Jon doubting my awesome camping skills.

 Success! See...told you Jon. ;)

Gourmet dinner-veggie hot dogs for me. Regular dogs for Jon.

Perfect way to end the night. S'mores by the campfire.
